Dr Shivani Aggarwala is a Sydney-based Specialist Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon with clinical interests in skin cancer surgery and reconstruction, breast surgery, eyelid surgery, body contouring, scar management, hand surgery and reconstructive microsurgery.

Dr Aggarwala consults in South West Sydney at Pure Visage in Gledswood Hills. Her approach to patient care focuses on careful assessment, surgical planning and clear communication. Before studying medicine, Dr Aggarwala worked as an optometrist in Australia and New Zealand. This earlier healthcare experience contributed to her interest in detailed assessment, continuity of care and patient communication.

Dr Aggarwala’s Medical Training

Dr Aggarwala completed her MBBS with Honours at the University of Sydney before undertaking specialist training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Surgical Education and Training program.

Her plastic surgery training included rotations through major Sydney hospitals and specialist units, including Royal North Shore Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, Liverpool Hospital, Westmead Hospital, Concord Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital and the Fairfield Hand Unit.

Before entering accredited specialist training, she worked as a Plastic Surgery and Burns Registrar at Concord, Liverpool, Bankstown and St George hospitals.

In 2020, Dr Aggarwala also worked as a Craniofacial Research Fellow through Sydney Children’s Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital.

Dr Aggarwala has maintained an active interest in research throughout her surgical training.

She has contributed to 13 peer-reviewed publications in plastic and reconstructive surgery and has presented research at scientific meetings in Australia and internationally, including meetings in Barcelona, New Delhi, Atlanta, Brussels and Prague.

In 2023, she received a Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Innovation Award for research relating to laparoscopic-assisted DIEP flap harvest in breast reconstruction.

About Dr Aggarwala

Dr Aggarwala was born and raised in Sydney and completed her schooling and university education locally.

She is of Indian heritage, with her family having migrated to Australia from Uganda in the 1970s.

Outside medicine, she enjoys reformer Pilates, coastal walks, cooking and baking, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys travel, particularly Japan for its culture, food and design.
